The photographs in the first half of the album have no captions but they record visits to various archaeological sites in Upper Egypt and Nubia, polo matches and ponies, the Sirdar’s residence, posed pictures of Vaughan and Wingate, and native Sudanese people. The captioned photographs show various buildings in Khartoum and Omdurman, horse races, and group shots.
